• Resin 3D printing releases harmful VOCs and fumes at every stage of operation. Ventilation is not optional — it is a requirement for safe operation. Our systems are built specifically for ELEGOO resin printers and connect directly to the printer’s exhaust port to vent fumes outdoors at the source.

  • Printing Process

The printer continuously releases VOCs throughout the print cycle. Do not occupy the room while printing. Plan your prints for overnight or weekends.

  • Handling Resin

Pouring, washing, and handling resin is the highest-exposure stage. A respirator with carbon cartridges and gloves are required — not optional.

  • Opening the Lid

All fumes accumulated inside the printer are released at once when the lid is opened. This is a concentrated exposure event.

  • Wash and Cure

IPA washing exposes you to VOC concentrations up to 12 times the WHO hazard threshold. Gloves and a respirator are required at this stage.

The Data

VOC concentrations during resin printing regularly exceed safe exposure limits. Independent testing found TVOC levels nearly 6 times the WHO discomfort threshold in a closed room shortly after starting a print. During IPA washing, concentrations can reach 12 times the WHO hazard threshold. Cured resin parts continue off-gassing for up to 84 days after printing.

Once exposed repeatedly to acrylates — the core chemical in all photopolymer resins — sensitization can occur. It is a permanent condition. There is no reversal.

  • Use Ventilation

Connect directly to your ELEGOO printer’s exhaust port and vent fumes outdoors. Our systems are built specifically for ELEGOO resin printers — no enclosure required for compatible models. The duct connects to a window vent or exterior outlet, similar to a portable air conditioner window kit.

  • Bring In Fresh Air

Ventilation only works when fresh air replaces the air being removed. Open a window or provide an equivalent clean air source. After printing, allow at least 24 hours before working in the space.

  • University of Lincoln Joseph Banks Laboratories (UK)

Cutting-edge scientific laboratory for Chemistry, Life and Environmental Sciences, and Pharmacy. Safely ventilating an ELEGOO Saturn resin 3D printer located in the chemistry lab.

Entertainment resort with three theme parks, a water park, and eleven hotels. Using the 3D Venting solution for resin 3D printing safety.

About us

We build ventilation systems for ELEGOO resin printers, by hand, in Charlottesville, Virginia. Every system connects directly to the printer’s exhaust port and vents fumes outdoors at the source.

We started 3D Venting because we are resin printers ourselves and couldn’t find a solution that actually worked. Everything we make is designed around real-world use, tested, and backed by a 180-day satisfaction guarantee.
